Over the last 10 years we have developed several Lotus Notes applications to manage audit processes. Initially these contained hard coded questions and as our experience and the technology improved we moved to using configurable templates.
We have also developed a number of applications to manage actions, the most recent being the Activities Manager.
Having reviewed the learning from all of these products we believe that there is a good opportunity to develop an "Audit Manager" application that would enable all of the auditing in an organisation to be managed in one central place within a robust, secure, efficient and user friendly system.
A key component of the system would be the audit schedule which would clearly show auditing performance against targets for individuals and groups. This is described further in the document linked below.
Key attributes or the system would include :
- Clearly visible audit schedule with requirements by group and individual
- Readily available indication of issues raised by the audit processes.
- Readily available performance metrics ( audit schedule compliance )
- Readily available performance metrics ( audit quality )
- Efficient to use for the system administrators and the end users
- Provide clear direction to auditors about what is expected of them
- Facilitate management by exception
- Expandable to include other audit processes
The document attached is an outline proposal that we submitted to an existing client. The client opted to become the lead client on the Asset Manager application for now instead. The proposal gives some indication of the system that we had in mind. As with all documents of this type it has been written with a specific situation and client in mind and may therefore be somewhat cryptic to others but I have chosen to publish it here for anyone that is interested.
